  • When is it happening?
    Saturday 25th September 2010.
  • Where is it happening?
Hilholt Wood. Close to Norton Disney between Newark and Lincoln.
  • What is the address of the woods?
    Hill Holt Wood
    Norton Disney
    Lincolnshire
    LN6 9JP
Please do NOT use a sat-nav to find the woods as they will not get you there :)  Please see the ‘Directions‘ page for how to get there.
  • What shall I wear?
What ever you want to wear :)
We don’t expect people to go out and buy new clothes/hats. We want it to be a nice relaxed day where people can be themselves – dress up or dress down, jeans or a beautiful frock.
Please bear in mind that it is an outdoors event set in woodland therefore high-heeled shoes may not be suitable.
  • What should I bring?
Feel free to only bring yourself – but if you want to, you can bring your own beers, deserts, rugs to sit on or garden/camp chairs, sun-shades or umbrellas, candles, incense, bubbles, solar lights for the evening, anything else you think will be helpful or pretty.
If you have instruments, please bring them along and play them for us all to enjoy while sat round the campfire in the evening. You can sing, swing your pois or tap dance! Share your  talents.
  • What’s the plan?
The hand fasting ceremony will take place first followed by cutting the cake, speeches and a toast. After this there will be a hog roast in the early evening with music and lots of sitting around chatting and making merry. This isn’t a traditional wedding in any sense – we just want to our enjoy our day and celebrate with you all and we think that simply having everyone with us will be more than enough to enjoy it thoroughly.
  • What’s happening after we’ve finished eating?
We have booked a Ceilidh band to entertain everyone with singing and dancing.  You don’t have to dance if you don’t want to but it’s only a bit of fun and it would be great for everyone to join in and have a laugh.
  • What is Hand Fasting?
A Pagan wedding. Please see the handfasting page.
  • Can I bring the kids?
Yes please! Our life together revolves around our families and friends and children are a large part of that – let them run loose and enjoy the woods!
  • Can  I camp overnight?
Only if this is specified on your invitation as we have very limited numbers allowed.
  • Can I bring a guest?
Only if specified on your invite – our close friends and family have added up to more than we expected and we would like to keep our day as intimate as possible.
  • What about food & drink?
There will be a hog roast and vegetarian food provided, you are welcome to bring anything extra you might like and we would appreciate contributions of soft drinks as well as beer/wine etc.
  • Food allergy alert! PLEASE READ!
We need to know in advance if you have a food allergy.
If you are bringing anything with you please can you label it if it contains the following ingredients as we already know some of you have allergies which can cause severe reactions:
    MUSHROOMS
    NUTS
    GLUTEN – WHEAT
  • Would we like gifts?
Please think carefully about gifts, we are inviting you to our wedding because you are one of the people we love to pieces and having you with us is a gift to us in itself. While we understand that some people insist on giving a gift at weddings and we would be very honoured if you decide to offer anything, we would prefer you to focus on enjoying our day with us, mix and mingle with our other guests and have a knees up! Besides, we already have a fully furnished house & kitchen and more pagan ornaments than we know what to do with!
  • Can I bring the dog?
Please leave Fido at home as our single doggy guest of honour (Scruffy) has been invited and one dog playing havoc is more than enough.
  • Can I make a speech or toast?
Of course you may, but please let us know in advance so that we can dedicate everyone’s time and attention to you – we will have a slot in the running order and want to make sure the speeches are heard by all.
  • Will you have a guest book?
Yes we will. Please sign our guest book on the day and take as much space as you need to. We are getting a really special book for this and hope everyone will sign it so that we can keep it forever and remember the kind words you’ve written.
  • What happens if the weather is bad?
There is a very nice large building on site that we also have the use of if we need it.
  • Are there toilet facilities?
A toilet block is situated in the building and a compost loo is located by our field. No showers for those of you who are camping.
